Bad Printing

Hello Everyone. My name is Bernie I live on the coast in Chile many  miles away from any type of technical support. 

I like Hp Printers and now have three stacked in a corner in the office. Finally , I invested in the Smart Tank 580. While it prints it is good but requires constant head cleaning and wastes a load of paper. My question is. How long can I leave this 580 switched off ?  If a week goes by,  white lines appear between the black. The colours gave so much trouble that I invested in a new cartridge,  but there was no way of reaching a firm conclusion that the cartridge was at fault. The usual Hp help on line is "Ensure printer is plugged in". No comment!  Appreciate any help on colour management on the 580.

It depends on the printer's environment. One week should not impact print quality, but everything longer probably will
