Hi @Kiri88,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY 5642 e-All-in-One Printer is experiencing issues related to print quality, such as missing lines and weak colors. These problems are often caused by clogged printheads or low ink levels. Since you've had this issue before and tried cleaning without success this time, there are a few additional steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
Steps to Improve Print Quality
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that your ink cartridges are not low or empty. Low ink levels can result in poor print quality.
Clean the Printheads:
- Use the printer's built-in cleaning function to clean the printheads. This can help clear any blockages that might be causing the issue. This can usually be done through the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.
- It's worth running the cleaning cycle more than once if the print quality does not improve after the first attempt.
Align the Printheads:
- Sometimes, misalignment can cause poor print quality. Align the printheads using the printer's maintenance settings.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on to see if this resolves the issue.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges may cause print quality issues.
Check for Driver Updates:
- Make sure your printer driver is up to date. Visit the HP website to download the latest driver for your printer model.
Manual Cleaning:
- If the automatic cleaning does not help, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. Remove the cartridges, then gently clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles directly.
