Hi @ianrt,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are facing print quality issues and the scanner is unable to read the alignment page.
If the alignment page has quality issues, the scanner will read the page and say alignment page error.
To check if the scanner is working, check if the scanner bar is lit up.
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Try making a copy with the scanner lid up and check if the bar lights up and moves.
Try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Also, try the steps in the document -Alignment errors
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
