Replaced the black ink cartridge with 2 new ones. Both did not work. The black is just not printing. Yes I removed the cellophane tape. Yes I cleaned the cartridge heads. Yes, I aligned the cartridges. Yes, I did everything that was suggested in the manual and online. The cartridges had an expiration date of Jan./2024. What gives!?!?!

Hi @mjm-59,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet 4630 printer not printing black ink even after replacing the cartridge and trying various troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the new black ink cartridges have an adequate ink level. Sometimes, cartridges may run out of ink quickly, especially if you print a lot of documents.
Clean the Printhead Manually:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Open the printer's cover to access the cartridges.
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Carefully clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab. You can use distilled water or isopropyl alcohol for this, but make sure it's not dripping wet.
- Reinsert the black ink cartridge and close the printer cover.
- Reconnect the printer to the power source and turn it on.
- Try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved.
Printer Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues.
Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all printer settings, so you may need to reconfigure it afterward. Consult your printer's manual or HP's website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
