@Siti85, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blinking LED and unrecognized black cartridge on your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 printer could be due to several reasons, such as improper installation, dirty contacts, or a faulty cartridge. Here’s how you can troubleshoot:

Check Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure that you are using a compatible HP ink cartridge. Your printer supports:

Black: HP 46 Black Ink Cartridge

Color: HP 46 Tri-color Ink Cartridge

If you are using a third-party or refilled cartridge, it may not be recognized properly.

Reinsert the Black Cartridge

>Turn on the printer.

>Open the ink cartridge access door.

>Remove the black cartridge and inspect it.

>Reinsert it firmly into its slot and ensure it clicks into place.

>Close the cartridge door and check if the error is resolved.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

>Power off the printer and unplug it.

>Remove the black ink cartridge.

>Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean the gold-colored contact points on the cartridge.

>Let it dry for a few seconds, then reinsert the cartridge.

>Turn the printer back on and check if the issue is resolved.

Reset the Printer

>Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.

>Wait for 2–3 minutes.

>Plug it back in and turn it on.

>Check if the cartridge is now recognized.

Try Another Cartridge (If Available)

If possible, insert another working black ink cartridge to see if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates

>Visit HP Support and search for your printer model.

>Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.

>Restart the printer and check if the cartridge is now recognized.

I hope this helps. 😊

Take care and have a good day.
