Hi @Blueberry2010,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your black ink suddenly stops printing clearly, especially when everything else seems fine. Let’s walk through what might be causing this on your HP ENVY Inspire 7220e and what you can do to fix it.
Steps to Fix
- Check Ink Levels:
- Open the HP Smart app or go to your printer display panel.
- Tap Ink levels to check the black cartridge status.
- If it's low, replacing it may resolve the issue.
- Clean the Printhead (Built-in Tool):
- On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- Follow the prompts and run a test print afterwards.
- Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Remove the black cartridge.
- Gently wipe the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert and ensure it's clicked in firmly.
- Replace the Cartridge (if needed):
- If cleaning doesn’t improve print quality and the black ink is still faint, it’s likely time to replace the black ink cartridge. For your printer, the correct cartridge is:
- HP 67 Black Ink (or HP 67XL for high yield)
5. Use Genuine HP Ink: - Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause quality issues.
- Make sure you're using genuine HP ink for best results.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
