I have almost the same issue, but the black ink on my ENVY 5642 printer looks very faded after I print. The color ink works fine. I did just get some more printer paper (HP BrightWhite24). I tried to clean the cartridges, but the black ink still comes out very faded.

I understand you are facing a print quality issue.
If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
