Hi @Bugsy8,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There are several possible reasons why your HP Deskjet 2700 printer may not be printing in black ink despite having new and genuine HP cartridges. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

1. Clean the printhead: Over time, the printhead can get clogged with dried ink or debris, which can block the flow of ink and prevent it from printing correctly. To clean the printhead, follow these steps.

  • On your printer control panel, select Setup, and then select Tools or Maintenance.
  • Select Clean Printhead or Printhead Cleaning, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Wait for the cleaning process to complete and then print a test page to see if the black ink is now printing.

2. Check ink levels: Ensure that the black ink cartridge has enough ink to print. You can check the ink levels on the printer control panel or in the HP Smart app.

3. Check the cartridge contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridge or inside the printer can get dirty or damaged, which can prevent the ink from flowing correctly. Check the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer, and clean them if necessary.

4. Replace the cartridge: Even though the cartridge is new, it may still be defective. Try replacing the black ink cartridge with a new one and see if the problem is resolved.

5. Update the printer firmware: Sometimes, outdated printer firmware can cause issues with ink cartridges. Check for any available updates for your printer firmware and install them if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
