Microsoft Windows 11

I have a smart tank 5100 printer that had a black ink leak during shipping to the Philippines, obviously the box was in different positions on the way over. I made sure the cardboard retainer was in place but rough handling bent it. I cleaned the rollers and spill areas the best I could.  But it will not even install to give me a proper error code. I will try the print heads and see if this resolves this. It was a pretty extensive leak as it was inside and out about an ounce out of a bottle. I still had enough ink to fill the bottle

Is there any hope of getting this cleaned up? It was primarily the black ink side that leaked.

@GZRmikey94,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

  • Unplug the printer.
  • Remove all ink bottles.
  • Clean ink spills with a damp cloth.
  • Remove and clean the print head with a damp cloth or cotton swab.
  • Clean the rollers and any ink stains inside.
  • Reinstall the print head and ink bottles.
  • Plug the printer back in and run a self-test or head cleaning.
  • Try printing a test page.
  • Check for error codes if it doesn’t work.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
