Hi @MichelleLakeOZ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the black ink isn't working despite being full and running cleanings, you might be dealing with a few possible issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:
- Check the Ink Cartridges: Ensure the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reinsert it to make sure it's seated correctly.
- Inspect the Print Head: Sometimes the issue can be with the print head. If it's removable, try gently cleaning the print head with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Avoid touching the nozzles directly.
- Run the Printer's Maintenance Utility: You've done cleaning cycles, but make sure you’re using the printer's built-in utility for deep cleaning or maintenance. This option is sometimes more thorough than basic cleaning cycles.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve issues related to print quality. Check the HP support site for any available updates for your printer model. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Perform a Print Head Alignment: If your printer has an alignment function, run it. Misalignment can sometimes cause issues with printing specific colors.
- Check for Air Bubbles: Sometimes air bubbles can get trapped in the ink lines. Running a cleaning cycle several times can help to clear these.

I hope this helps.
