Hi @Mo264,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 is printing blank pages despite having black ink, there are several possible causes and solutions you can try:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Check Ink Cartridges: Make sure the black ink cartridge is not empty or low. Replace the cartridge if necessary.

2. Clean Printhead

Sometimes the printhead might be clogged, preventing proper ink flow. To clean the printhead:

Open Printer Software: On your computer, open the HP printer software (HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant).

Navigate to Maintenance: Look for an option related to Printer Maintenance or Tools.

Run Printhead Cleaning: Select the option to Clean Printhead or Clean Cartridges. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning process.

Print a Test Page: After cleaning, print a test page to check if the issue is resolved.

3. Check for Paper or Print Settings

Check Paper Type: Make sure you are using the correct paper type for your print job.

Print Settings: Ensure that your print settings are configured correctly. In the print dialog, verify that the correct printer and paper settings are selected.

4. Check for Proper Cartridge Installation

Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the black ink cartridge and reinsert it to ensure it’s properly seated.

Check Cartridge Contacts: Inspect the metal contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer for any ink or debris that could be causing a poor connection. Gently clean them with a lint-free cloth if needed.

5. Perform Printer Diagnostics

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and automatically fix common printing issues, including issues with ink cartridges.

6. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

Update Drivers: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Download them from the HP Support website.

Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the existing printer drivers and software, then reinstall them. This can resolve issues caused by corrupted or outdated software.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Update Firmware: Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
