I’ve had this issue for a while and manually troubleshooting the issue is costing me stock and money.
I cannot get the black ink to stop smearing/bleeding and it will not dry.
This is happening on Matt paper (160gsm) and glossy paper (180gsm)
I’ve tried all the settings available to try and resolve. On both printer settings and computer settings. I make sure they match each time.
this is not a question of paper quality because coloured inks dry within minutes. I’ve left black ink printed items, both Matt and gloss finish to dry up to three day and yet, still smudging.
my dpi is set to 300 and the print quality is fantastic but the black ink does not dry.
ive resorted to using grey in my designs as a scapegoat but I’m not impressed. My work loses its overall feel and instead looks like the black areas are washed out.
is this an issue with the black ink itself!?
I have found so many posts very similar to this and I honestly now wondering if remaining brand loyal for my black ink is worth it.
I genuinely don’t know what else I can try. But in the hopes that there may be a solution, here I am!
I’ve even gone as far as to try blow drying the paper but that has not helped to dry the ink.
mom at my wits end!

Are you using HP photo paper and genuine HP ink or not?
Comparing drying for colours and black doesn't tell you anything, because the ink chemistry is different in black from those in colours.
