The black on my printed photos appears red. It says my black ink doesn’t need to be replaced though.

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory. Have you tried printing a different picture or from a different application and check if the issue persists?

Are you using the HP Smart app to print from your iOS device?

 

Let us try these steps:

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on the iOS device

 

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that prints fine. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
