Hi @Foxyford,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When your HP printer is experiencing issues with printing black text correctly despite having performed alignment checks, there are several steps you can take to address and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is not empty or low on ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer's menu or the HP software installed on your computer.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Over time, printheads can become clogged, affecting print quality. Most HP printers have a cleaning function accessible from the printer’s control panel or software:

    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the maintenance or tools section.
    • Select the option to clean the printheads.

  • Manual cleaning may also be necessary if automatic cleaning doesn't resolve the issue. Be sure to follow the instructions in the user manual.

Print a Diagnostic Page:

  • Use the printer menu to print a diagnostic page. This can help identify if there are specific issues with the black ink or other printheads.

Reinstall the Print Cartridge:

  • Sometimes, removing the black ink cartridge and reinstalling it can improve connectivity between the cartridge and printer.
  • Power off the printer and unplug it before proceeding.
  • Remove the cartridge, inspect it for damage or leaks, then reinsert it securely.

Replace the Cartridge:

  • If cleaning and reinstalling do not work, the problem might be with the cartridge itself. Consider replacing the black ink cartridge with a new one to see if the issue persists.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • HP frequently releases updates for printer firmware, which can resolve existing bugs. Visit Official HP® Support, find the firmware update for your specific printer model, and follow the installation instructions.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
