Hi @Patty6817
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That’s frustrating, especially since your ink is full! Here are some possible causes and solutions:
Possible Causes
- Clogged Printhead – If the printhead is blocked, ink won’t transfer to the paper.
- Incorrect Print Settings – If the printer is set to print in a different mode (like color-only when using black ink), it may cause blank pages.
- Firmware Issues – Outdated printer firmware can sometimes cause printing errors.
- Cartridge Recognition Issues – If the printer isn’t detecting the ink properly, it may not use it correctly.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle
- Open the HP Smart app or go to your printer’s settings.
- Look for Maintenance or Printhead Cleaning and run the cleaning cycle.
- Try printing a test page afterward.
2. Check Ink Cartridge Installation
- Remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them securely.
- Make sure there’s no protective tape left on the cartridge.
3. Print a Test Page
- Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Right-click your printer → Printer Properties → Print Test Page.
- If the test page is blank, the issue is likely with the ink delivery system.
4. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
- Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.

5. Try a Different Print Mode
- In your print settings, switch to Grayscale or Black Ink Only mode to see if it makes a difference.
