HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One

Blue ink tank is full but not printing.  I can see a clear line where the blue ink should pull to print and it is clear.

Hi @WingPrint,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 6001 has a full blue (cyan) ink tank but the ink line is clear, it means ink is not reaching the printhead, usually due to an air bubble, clogged printhead, or ink supply issue.

Steps to Fix Cyan Ink Not Printing

1. Check Ink Tube and Air Bubbles

  • Look at the transparent ink supply tube for the cyan color.
  • If you see air gaps, the ink flow is interrupted.
  • Perform a Printhead Cleaning from the printer control panel or HP Smart app:
    • HP Smart AppPrinter SettingsToolsClean Printhead.
    • Repeat up to 3 times if needed.

2. Prime the Ink System

  • On the printer touchscreen:
    • Go to Setup > Tools > Restore Ink System or Prime Ink System.
  • This forces ink through the tubes to the printhead.

3. Check Vent Plug

  • Open the cyan ink tank.
  • Ensure the vent plug (small rubber piece) is removed from the fill hole.
  • If the vent is blocked, ink cannot flow.

4. Update Firmware

5. Manual Printhead Cleaning (If Still Not Printing)

  • Remove the printhead carefully.
  • Clean the bottom with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinstall and run another cleaning cycle.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
