Office jet pro 8030 is not printing with blue ink. Areas where it should be blue or blended with blue are all coming out pink.

I replaced all the cartridges about a week ago and that did not resolve the issue.

Please advise.

Hi @eclaire2062,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for the detailed description. If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 is printing blue areas as pink, even after installing a new set of cartridges, it typically indicates that the cyan ink is not being delivered correctly. This can happen due to a clogged printhead, an issue with the cyan cartridge, or the printer requiring printhead maintenance.

Let's start with the recommended troubleshooting steps below:

1. Check the Cyan Cartridge

  • Make sure the cyan cartridge is genuine HP, properly installed, and that all protective tape has been removed.
  • Remove the cyan cartridge and reinstall it firmly to ensure it is seated correctly.

2. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Printing a diagnostic page helps identify whether the cyan ink is missing or printing incorrectly.

Follow the steps in this HP document: HP OfficeJet 6900, 8010, 8020, 8030 printers - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issue...

3. Clean the Printhead

If the diagnostic page shows missing or incorrect cyan output, perform the Printhead Cleaning from the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.

  • Run Level 1 cleaning first.
  • If the issue persists, proceed with Level 2 and then Level 3 cleaning only if needed, allowing the printer a short rest between cleaning cycles.

4. Check the Print Quality Again

After the cleaning process completes, print another diagnostic page to verify whether the cyan ink has been restored.

A Few Questions

To help narrow down the cause, could you please let us know:

  • Are the replacement cartridges genuine HP cartridges or third-party compatible cartridges?
  • Does the issue occur when printing from all devices and applications, or only from one computer?
  • Could you share a photo of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page, particularly the cyan color blocks?

Once we have that information, we'll be happy to review the results and advise on the next HP-supported troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps!

I'm an HP Employee.
