I just installed a new blue ink cartridge and am not getting any blue ink printing at all.  In fact, I've tried two different new blue cartridges with the same result of no blue ink printing.  All other colors are working fine and blue was working just fine before I changed to a new cartridge. I've run several cleaning cycles and also made sure no plastic wrap or stickers from packaging are covering anything and that it is inserted correctly.  Help!!

Hi @Cathy313,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer is not printing blue ink after installing a new cartridge. There are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using the correct blue ink cartridge for your specific printer model. You can usually find this information in your printer’s manual or on HP's website.

Inspect for Blockages: Even though you’ve checked for packaging materials, it’s worth inspecting the cartridge nozzle thoroughly for any blockages. Ink residue or dried ink can sometimes cause issues.

Run Printhead Cleaning: Since you've run cleaning cycles, ensure they are thorough. Sometimes multiple cleanings are necessary to unclog the nozzles fully. This can usually be done through the printer’s maintenance settings on the control panel or HP software.

Align Printheads: Misalignment can sometimes interfere with proper ink flow. Use the printer’s alignment function to ensure that the printheads are properly aligned.

Check the Printhead Configuration: Verify if your printer has a removable printhead and ensure it is seated correctly. Some HP models feature removable printheads, which can be cleaned manually.

Manual Cleaning of Printheads:

  • Turn off the printer and open it to access the printhead.
  • Remove the printhead if your printer model allows it.
  • Use distilled water and a lint-free cloth to gently clean the printhead and electrical contacts.

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure that your printer's firmware is updated to the latest version  https://support.hp.com/us-en. Sometimes, updates address specific printing issues.

Check for Software Issues: Verify that your printer driver software is up to date on your computer. Sometimes, reinstalling the driver can fix unrecognized issues.

Inspect Electrical Contacts: Ensure that the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer are clean and free from any residue that could prevent them from functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
