I have a brand-new HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e. On its first print (and each subsequent print), there are horizontal white lines through the color or text. These white lines are visible in the colored boxes on each level of printhead cleaning, as well. Is there anything to be done on my end to fix this or will I need a replacement?

Hi @ejh5,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Horizontal white lines in prints from your brand-new HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e can be indicative of a few potential issues, such as clogged printheads, incorrect alignment, or hardware defects. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
**1. Perform Printhead Cleaning
Access Printer Settings:
- On your printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup or Tools.
Run Printhead Cleaning:
- Look for the option labeled Clean Printhead or Printhead Cleaning. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the cleaning process.
Check Print Quality:
- After cleaning, print a test page or alignment page to see if the white lines are still present.
**2. Perform Printhead Alignment
Open Printer Settings:
- Go to Setup or Tools on your printer’s control panel.
Select Printhead Alignment:
- Find the option for Printhead Alignment or Align Printheads and follow the instructions.
Print Alignment Page:
- The printer will print an alignment page. Follow the instructions to align the printheads correctly.
**3. Check Ink Cartridges
Verify Cartridge Installation:
- Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure that all cartridges are properly installed and seated.
Inspect Cartridges:
- Check the ink cartridges for any protective tape that might not have been removed. Remove any such tape if present.
Check Ink Levels:
- Verify that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink. If any cartridge is low or empty, replace it with a new one.
**4. Clean Printhead Manually
- Remove and Clean Printhead:
- If printhead cleaning via the printer doesn’t work, you can clean the printhead manually:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the ink cartridges and the printhead if removable (refer to the printer’s manual).
- Use a lint-free cloth or paper towel lightly moistened with distilled water or rubbing alcohol to gently clean the printhead contacts and the cartridge contacts.
- Allow the printhead and cartridges to dry completely before reinstalling them.
- If printhead cleaning via the printer doesn’t work, you can clean the printhead manually:
**5. Update Printer Firmware
- Go to the HP Support website and download any available firmware updates for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
- Follow the instructions to update the printer’s firmware, which may resolve any software-related issues affecting print quality.
**6. Run a Diagnostic Test:
- On the printer’s control panel, look for a diagnostic or test print option. This can help identify print quality issues and provide further guidance.
**7. Perform a Factory Reset:
- As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset to restore the printer to its original settings. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
