Just bought and installed a brand new 667XL black ink cartridge on my DeskJet printer and after only 3 pages the print quality started deteriorating. At 7  pages the printer notified me that it was running out of ink.

Could there be something wrong with the printer, or is it more likely that the ink cartridge was defective?

Hi @ChurroGelato,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP 667XL ink cartridge. Here are a few things you can try.

  • Check the ink level: Make sure that the ink cartridge is actually empty. Sometimes the printer software might show that the cartridge is empty, but there might still be some ink left in it. Check the ink level in your printer software to confirm this.
  • Clean the printhead: Sometimes a clogged printhead can cause the ink to run out faster than usual. Try cleaning the printhead using the printer software or manually by following the instructions in the printer manual.
  • Use the right paper: Using the wrong type of paper can cause the ink to be absorbed too quickly, which can make it seem like the cartridge is running out faster than it should. Make sure you're using the right type of paper for your printer.

I hope one of these solutions helps you solve the issue with your HP 667XL ink cartridge.

Take care and have a good day.
