I just bought the OfficeJet Pro 8028e printer, setup HP Smart, and subscribed to the free trial of Instant Ink. The first day it printed no problem. black, and colors. Next day, it randomly developed an alignment issue where it wasn't printing pages correctly, like it was skipping parts of the page or scrunching text. I replaced the black ink with another HP cartridge I had, then started printing black fine. However, now it won't print in any color. All my supply levels are at 80-90%. I've run all diagnostics to no avail. Used the Virtual assistant which was useless. Not even the alignment pages will print in any color now. I pulled out the color ink cartridges, cleared the vents, checked to make sure they were still wet - all is good there. I've checked preferences in every different app I've printed from and color is selected. Still won't print color.

Also, for some reason now, I can't use HP Smart to print any Printer Reports. Even though my printer says its ready and online, the Printer Reports options say the printer is not connected. I'm also getting quite a bit upset because every test page, every blank page, every messed-up page has counted against my instant Ink number.

It seems to me like software issue and its driving me insane because I can't print any other way now. Did Instant Ink turn off my colors? Its saying I have enough ink in the cartridges.

I need help. I am about to return it.

Well, I figured out how to fix it with Support. It needed to run printhead cleaning cycles several times, instead of just once. Doing it only one time didn't clean it at all. It is printing as it should now.
