Hello all,
I just purchased a brand new HP Envy 6120e. The photo printing quality is very hit and miss, the first couple of times printed but didn't print all of the photo, 3/4 of it, the third, the ink was not the correct colours. I have aligned everything but the quality isn't great.
I'm disappointed to say the least and it wasting the ink and expensive printer papers.
Can anyone give me some tips or advice on what to do.
Thank you

Hi @xCherryx
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s frustrating when a brand new printer doesn’t perform as expected, especially with photo printing! There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and improve the quality of your prints:
1. Check the Paper Type
- Ensure you are using the correct type of photo paper for your printer. Using the wrong type or low-quality paper can affect print results. Make sure the paper is rated for photo printing and matches the settings in your print dialog.
2. Use the Correct Print Settings
- Double-check your print settings. When printing photos, make sure you have selected the appropriate paper type (photo paper) and print quality (best or photo quality) in the print dialog box on your computer.
- Color Settings: If the colors are off, try adjusting the color settings in your printer software to get the right balance.
3. Perform a Print Head Cleaning
- Even though you've aligned the printer, print heads can get clogged, especially when not used often. Try running the clean printhead option in your printer's maintenance menu. This should help resolve issues with ink not printing correctly.
4. Check Ink Levels
- Even if your printer has new ink, it's worth checking that the ink cartridges are seated properly and have sufficient ink. Sometimes, a cartridge might not be fully connected, leading to incomplete prints or color issues.
5. Paper Loading
- Ensure that the photo paper is properly loaded in the printer’s paper tray, and that it is not sticking together or feeding incorrectly. Paper jams or misfeeds can lead to parts of the photo not printing.
6. Update Printer Drivers
- Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. Visit the HP website and make sure you have the latest printer driver and software updates for your printer model.
7. Try a Different Software
- If you’re using a photo editor or another program to print your photos, try using the built-in printer software or another program like Windows Photo Viewer to see if the results are different.
8. Test with a Different Image
- Sometimes an issue with a specific image file (resolution, format, or corruption) can affect print quality. Try printing a different image to rule out the possibility of the problem being with the file itself.
I hope this helps.
