My brand new go envy inspire 7900e will not print color. The test page had color so I know it works, but it’s not an option in any program I try to print from?? There is not even an area to pick color in print settings.

Hi @Emischk ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your brand new HP Envy Inspire 7900e is not printing color on your Mac running MacOS 11.0 Big Sur, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to address the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the document you want to print.
- Go to the File menu and select "Print."
- In the print dialog box, make sure that the printer selected is your HP Envy Inspire 7900e.
- Look for a "Color" or "Color Options" setting. Ensure that it is set to print in color.
Printer Preferences:
- Open the "System Preferences" on your Mac.
- Select "Printers & Scanners."
- Click on your HP Envy Inspire 7900e printer in the left sidebar.
- Make sure that the default settings are configured to print in color. There might be an option called "Color Options" or similar.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP printer. Visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers for MacOS 11.0 Big Sur.
Check for Software Updates:
- Make sure your Mac's operating system and all relevant software are up to date. Sometimes, software updates can include fixes for printing issues.
Reset Print System:
- Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left and choose "Reset printing system."
- Confirm the action and then re-add your printer.
Print a Test Page:
- Open the HP utility or printer management software that came with your printer.
- Look for an option to print a test page. This will help you determine if the issue is with the printer or the software on your Mac.
Check Color Ink Levels:
- Make sure that your color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Sometimes, if the ink levels are low, the printer may default to grayscale printing.
Use HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your Mac. This app provides additional features and options for managing your printer, including color settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
