HP ENVY 5052 All-in-One Printer

My printer prints only when I install a new cartridge and used consistently. When I come back to print a couple days later, nothing prints. It is trying, and sounds like it's doing it correctly, there is just no ink transferred onto the paper. Cartridges are new, compatible, full.. color and black both don't work. All software is up to date. I"m going crazy, help!

Hi @mt2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP ENVY 5052 printer. There are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check for Protective Strips/Tabs: Ensure that you have removed any protective strips or tabs from the new cartridges. Sometimes, these protective covers can block the ink flow.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door. Remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab. Be gentle and avoid touching the nozzles.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.

Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most printers have a built-in diagnostic tool that can help identify and fix print quality issues. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to run a print quality diagnostic.

Update Firmware/Driver: Ensure that your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest firmware and drivers for your printer model.

Check for Ink Levels: Confirm that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. Some printers may not print if the ink levels are too low, even if the cartridges are not empty.

Perform Print Head Cleaning: Print head issues can cause printing problems. Check the utility for cleaning the print heads. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a print head cleaning.

Check Paper and Print Settings: Ensure that you are using the correct type of paper for your printer, and check the print settings to make sure they match the paper type. Incorrect settings can affect print quality.

Reinstall the Cartridges: Remove the cartridges and reinstall them properly. Make sure they are securely in place.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-

This did not fix my problem. Instead I learned my ink cartridges had dried ink in the printer head that was preventing perfectly full cartridges from printing. This solution that I found on youtube so clean the printer heads worked for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7TGQQA42LU
