HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer

I have an out of warranty OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer.

We've had this printer for several years and have only printed a handful of times, but the clip holding the black ink snapped the first time or second time I went to change the cartridge. In searching for support I only seem to get routed to this Community Forum, so here I am!

Is there any hope to get this thing working again? It's an almost $300 printer. Seems like a colossal waste of money and parts to be functional for only one or two print cartridges...

The parts list for your printer is here and unless I am mistaken the part you need is E0X34-60020

that part is discussed here and  a picture is shown

See if you can assemble the broken parts and use fiberglass cloth and epoxy to repair.

Alternately look here

A non working one with a good clip is shown here

let me know what you decide.

Thanks for the response, Beemer. Seems like it's just junked now unless I can part out someone else's broken HP. That's the last HP printer for me.

Unfortunately, things like that happen.  The drivers side window control panel on my 2016 Rav4 broke loose and the dealer said there was only 1 panel avaialble in the USA and his franchise was unable to obtain it.   I repaired it with resin and hardner.  IMHO, It had a design flaw:  there was only a single support where one would apply the most pressure to lock/unlock the door.  The other end of the panel had several supports.

I agree with you. Things happen. And that definitely is a disappointing situation from your dealership. But I feel like if we're looking at that comparison:

  • Did you need to pay a monthly subscription (~5% the value of the vehicle every month) just to be able to talk to the dealer?
  • Did all the other windows stop working when the one broke? (You can't print with color if the black ink isn't working.)
  • You didn't need to buy a whole other Rav4 just to get the part to make it work

I have tried wire and rubber bands and various things to find a way to get the ink cartridge to lock into place. And honestly it locks into place pretty well. Well enough that the printer will actually read the ink levels of the cartridge, but there's still something going on that prevents it from printing from either cartridge and it will fail calibrations. Ultimately I was led to wanting to try to replace the specific part somehow because it seems designed to not work without it. The suggestion to get a broken one for parts is a good one, but it looks like it'll be $50-100 to get one of those after shipping and a chance that it won't work, so I'd rather put that money toward a replacement.

Again, I do appreciate your time and offering some help my way. Seriously. I'm frustrated by the situation but that frustration is not directed at you. Thank you!
