Have you tried regular ink cartridges? 

Step 1: Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible

Step 2: Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed

Step 3: Clean the electrical contacts

Step 4: Reset the printer

Step 5: Clean the ink cartridge contacts again

I have an HP ENVY 7855 printer 

WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO SETUP BECAUSE NO SETUP CARTRIDGES CAME WITH OUR PRINTER. WHILE SEARCHING FOR SUPPORT, WE FOUND THAT MANY OWNERS OF THESE 7855 Models ALSO HAD NO SETUP INK CARTRIDGES. WE ORDERED 64XL cartridges hoping we could just setup with these to no avail

NO HELP WHATSOEVER. 

SORRY, WE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED AS WE BOUGHT THIS FROM AMAZON. BY THE TIME OUR OLD HP DESKJET 110 AIO PRINTER ran out of ink, our NEW ENVY was not accepted as a return by AMAZON.

WE BOUGHT 64XL CARTRIDGES HOPING WE COULD JUST SETUP THE ENVY WITHOUT SETUP INK CARTRIDGES WHICH DID NOT COME WITH THE ENVY.
