I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 that was left behind by a former colleague. I did a factory reset on the settings but every time I try to print something, I get an "Need to enroll in HP Instant Ink to print". I don't want to enroll in Instant Ink, how do I bypass or delete this from the printer?

If I cannot bypass or delete, I will just junk the printer. No company should force you to use their products ever.

Hi @pmusni,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you answer your query on instant ink subscription.

The HP Instant Ink subscription cartridges provided with the subscription will stop working in your printer even if they are not empty.

You will have to replace all of them with regular / traditional cartridges.

I am afraid, there is no way to bypass this feature.

Please install store-bought HP original ink cartridge.

Subscription cartridges or generic (non-hp) cartridges will not function in your printer now that the service is cancelled.

However, if interested I would be glad to help you in enrolling the printer with instant ink services.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If this solution hit the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
