HP C5580 printer. Black ink was getting low so I purchased and installed a brand new HP 74XL black ink cartridge. It actually worked for a couple days for about three pages of printing; but now says "Cartridge in slot on the right is not intended for use in this printer. Remove and replace."

I've searched and tried a number of fixes and resets as recommended on the internet with no luck. It won't even let me print with just using the color selection option.

This is a brand new authentic (and very expensive) HP cartridge not a refill or an after market cartridge.

Thanks!

@Dakota31, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

HP Photosmart C5580 All-in-One Printer uses HP 564 ink cartridges n the US region. HP 74XL is not compatible.

You may refer to this document for more info.

Kindly use HP 564 ink cartridges to resolve this issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
