Hi @Tim907,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Using a color cartridge in the black slot of your printer is generally not recommended. Printers are designed to work with specific cartridges and using the wrong type may result in poor print quality or damage to the printer.
Black ink cartridges typically contain pigment-based ink that is formulated for text and monochrome printing. Color cartridges, on the other hand, contain dye-based inks that are formulated for color printing. The inks have different properties and are optimized for their intended use.
If you use a color cartridge in the black slot, you may experience issues such as inaccurate colors, poor text quality, or other printing problems. Additionally, mixing different types of inks in the same slot may cause clogging or other damage to the printhead.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
