HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

My printer uses 950XL (black and white) and 951XL (color) cartridges.  Can I use the newer 952 XL cartridges?  (They look the same.)

Hi @Moab2020,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP 952XL cartridges are not compatible with printers that specifically require HP 950XL and 951XL cartridges. Here’s why:

Cartridge Design and Compatibility: Although the physical appearance of cartridges may look similar, HP designs cartridges with specific electrical and mechanical components tailored to work with particular printer models. The 952XL cartridges are designed for printers that are compatible with the HP 952 cartridge series.

Printer Compatibility: Using incompatible cartridges can lead to various issues such as unrecognized cartridges, print quality problems, or damage to the printer. HP printers are engineered to work optimally with specific cartridge models, and using an incompatible cartridge model can disrupt this balance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
