Microsoft Windows 11

I have 2 printers that take the same ink cartridges (950 / 951). I am about to replace one of the printers, which happens to have a nearly full black cartridge (950). Is it possible to save this cartridge to use in the other printer?  I hate to waste a nearly new cartridge. If this cartridge can be set aside to eventually use in the other printer, what should I do to keep the cartridge useable? Is there anything else I need to do to make this work? Thank you.

@cydlb, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

If the ink cartridge is compatible with the other printer, then yes, you can use it.

Note: Ink cartridge protection should not be enabled in the printer that you are about to replace. If it is enabled, these ink cartridges will not work in any other printer.

You may store the ink cartridge in an air tight container so that the ink does not dry up.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
