HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

Ink cartridges were low so replaced with 950-951 HP cartridges per usual.  It seems CYAN won't register. Black, yellow and magenta are fine.  HP printer gives me error message that there is an ink or printer problem.  Tried the unplug/plug fix but no help.  Tried to "delicately" clean ports for cartridges but no improvement.  Just had my HP deskpro upgraded with new board and MS 11 Ops system including 365.    All indications are the printer is connected and working fine except for the ink problem.  Could the cartridge holder be damaged and require replacement?  What is the cost and is it worth it?
