I can't get my HP8020 ink cartridge door open. I can open the front door, but I can't get the plate to open so I can get to the cartridges. One side will kind of open but the left side won't budge. I need to change my ink cartridges. I've done this before and I've never had a problem opening the top. Please help as soon as possible.
Thank you

Hi @Linda0630 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are having trouble accessing the ink cartridges on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 All-in-One Printer, here are some steps you can follow to ensure you are opening the cartridge access area correctly and safely:
- Turn Off the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned off before you attempt to open the cartridge access area. This can prevent any accidental damage.
- Open the Front Door: As you mentioned, you can open the front door. Ensure it is fully open.
- Locate the Cartridge Access Door: Inside the front door, there is another door that gives you access to the ink cartridges. This door is typically in the center of the printer.
- Check for Obstructions: Inspect the area around the cartridge access door to make sure there are no obstructions or pieces of paper blocking it.
- Gently Pry the Door: If one side of the door opens and the other doesn't try gently prying the left side with your fingers. Be careful not to use excessive force to avoid breaking any parts.
- Use Both Hands: Use both hands to apply even pressure on both sides of the cartridge access door. Sometimes, the door might need an equal amount of pressure on both sides to open correctly.
- Look for a Latch: Some models may have a small latch or clip that needs to be pushed to open the door. Check for any small notches or clips that might be holding the door in place.
- Check the Manual: If you have the manual for your printer, refer to the section about replacing ink cartridges. There might be specific instructions.
