HP ENVY Inspire 7921e All-in-One Printer

My recent order of cartridges are both being rejected despite being 804XL ink which fits perfectly to my HP ENVY inspire 7921e. The printer and software for it on the computer accurately reads the ink values as full. It says this:

'Cartridges rejected

The indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or cloned. HP+ printers require original HP

cartridges. Replace the non-original cartridges to continue printing.'

I need this resolved as that ink was costly and I need to print documents. I can't seem to talk to an agent in Australia and it keeps coming up with error in the virtual assistant chat.

I have tried swapping HP ink and the 3rd party ink 1 at a time as well as both at a time and shutting down the printer and turning it back on after 10 minutes; as well factory resetting the printer and skipping updates and its still not fixed.

Hi @JohnDang55,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I was contacted by phone by HP support and the solution was to bring it back to the shop I bought it from and exchange it for a regular HP printer that does not have HP plus. The ink wasn't the problem but rather because it was an 'e' series printer it had a huge negative or only using limited ink.

Unbelievable that I have to do this. This is like not being able to use a Xbox controller because I wasn't using Duracell AA batteries.

These printers should have versatility and be able to use 3rd party 804 ink. It clearly could read the ink levels correctly so saying the chip isn't working is just wrong, in fact why the heck are there chips in the first place.

HI @JohnDang55 ,

Thank you for your response. I am sorry Non HP ink may harm the printer. hence its not advisable

There doesn't seem to be a HP printer that can use the compatible 804 ink listed here. Is the person who contacted me by phone trolling me?
