Hi @MechelleD,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer stops printing flyers midway and cancels itself, it could be due to several potential issues. Here's a troubleshooting guide to help resolve the problem.
Check the Paper Size and Type Settings
- Ensure the paper size and type in the printer settings match the paper loaded in the printer.
- For flyers, you might be using specialty paper (e.g., glossy or heavy paper). Verify that the printer supports the paper type and weight.
- Open the print dialog box on your computer.
- Go to Printer Preferences or Print Settings.
- Select the correct paper size (e.g., A4, Letter) and paper type (e.g., glossy, plain, cardstock).
Inspect the Flyer Design
- Large images or graphics in your flyer may cause memory issues, especially for older or basic printers.
- Try reducing the resolution of the images or saving the flyer as a simplified file format (e.g., PDF).
Tip: Use tools like Adobe Acrobat or online PDF compressors to optimize your flyer.
Check for Print Job Interruptions
- A corrupted print job or outdated driver can cause printing to cancel itself.
- Cancel all print jobs:
- On Windows, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select See what's printing. Cancel all jobs.
- On Mac, open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and clear the queue.
- Restart your printer and try printing again.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Outdated or corrupted drivers may cause incomplete print jobs.
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Uninstall the current printer software and reinstall the updated driver.
Inspect the Printer for Hardware Issues
- Ensure no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
- Clean the rollers and check the ink or toner levels.
Adjust Print Quality Settings
- High-quality settings can sometimes overwhelm the printer, especially for large designs.
- Reduce the print quality to a lower setting and test.
- In the Print Preferences, select a medium or low-quality setting (e.g., Draft or Normal).
Run a Printer Diagnostic Tool
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool (for Windows) to identify and fix common issues.
- For Mac, use the built-in diagnostic tools under Printers & Scanners.
Try Another File or Document
- If the issue persists, try printing a different flyer or a simpler document. This helps determine if the problem is with the specific file or the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
