HP Smart Tank 589 All-in-One Printer

own an HP Smart Tank 589 All-in-One Printer, and I am experiencing issues with the carriage assembly. The printer is not functioning properly, and I believe the carriage might need replacement.

1. The actual cost of the carriage assembly (part price).

2. Service charges at an HP-authorized service center.

3. Whether this issue is covered under warranty (if applicable).

Hi @Rj26i,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Before considering a carriage replacement for your HP Smart Tank 589 All-in-One Printer, try these steps:

First, perform a power reset. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. See if the issue persists.

Next, check for carriage obstructions. Open the printer’s front access door and look for jammed paper, debris, or broken parts inside the carriage path. If you see anything stuck, carefully remove it.

Then, manually move the carriage. With the printer turned off, gently slide the carriage left and right to ensure it moves freely. If it's stuck, clean any visible obstructions.

Reinstall the ink cartridges by removing them, inspecting for damage, and reinstalling them properly. Make sure they click into place.

Try updating the firmware via the HP Smart app or the printer menu under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

If nothing works, reset the printer to factory settings from the control panel under Settings > Restore Defaults.

If the issue persists after these steps, you might need a carriage replacement or service repair. Let me know what happens after trying these steps! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
