Hi, I’m having an issue with my printer “HP OFFICE JET 4655” The screen shows a message saying: “At least one of the cartridges has a problem.” However, the cartridges I’m using are not new, but they’re not old either. I’ve only used them to print a couple of times, just a few pages. I always use the same type of cartridges, and these are the correct ones.

The message doesn’t say that there are no cartridges; it says there is a problem with at least one. Also, on the screen where it shows the cartridge icons, both appear completely empty. I’ve already removed the cartridges, cleaned them, reinserted them, turned off the printer, and even unplugged it from the back, but the problem still remains. I’m not sure what else I should do at this point.

@Yuli19, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Cartridge Error Message on HP OfficeJet 4655!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Cartridge errors, such as "At least one of the cartridges has a problem," can occur for several reasons. Below are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue on your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer:

Steps to Resolve the Issue:

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn the printer on and allow it to remain idle.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the power source and then back into the printer.
  • Turn the printer on if it does not automatically turn on.

Check Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door, and then wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  • Remove the problematic cartridge and close the door.
  • Clean the metal contacts on the cartridge and printer with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Let the cartridge contacts dry for a few minutes, and then reinstall the cartridge.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges as non-HP cartridges can sometimes cause issues.
  • Visit www.hp.com/go/anticounterfeit for assistance in verifying whether your cartridges are genuine.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check HP’s website for any firmware updates for your model.

Test with Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, test with another compatible cartridge. This will help identify if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer itself.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
