My HP ENVY 5052 ran low on Black Ink, so I bought a new HP Ink Cartridge. When installed I get the "Cartridge Problem" error and I can't print in Black. I put the low ink Cartridge back and all is fine. Did this many times. I figured the new Cartridge was defective so I bought another new HP Ink Cartridge and the same thing - the 2nd new one gives an error - the original low ink Cartridge goes back in and it's fine. The printer seems okay with the original Cartridge so I doubt it's a Printer issue. Maybe I got 2 defective Cartridges - but that seems unlikely. Any tips are much appreciated.
Troubleshooting I have done:
- Quadruple checked that the protective strip was off the new Cartridges.
- Install new Cartridges = Error
- Install low ink Cartridge = Success
- Power off - unplug for 10 mins - power on using Power Bar = Error
- Power off - unplug for 10 mins - power on using Wall Outlet = Error
- Turned "on" then 'off' the "Cartridge Protection" option = Error
- Install Cartridge and power off before error message - wait - power on = Error
- Restored the Factory Settings on the Printer = Error
- Setup the Printer again = Error
- Checked Firmware - it's up-to-date.
- Cleaned the contact of both new Cartridges and the Printer = Error
- Followed all the steps in the "HP Virtual Agent" Troubleshooting = Error
- Disabled the "HP Real Life Technologies" = Error
- Installed the "HP Scan and Print Doctor" = Error (at the "Device Status" checkpoint)
- Ran the "HP Scan and Print Doctor" again with the original low in Cartridge = Success
So anything with the low ink Cartridge is fine (other than I need it to have ink in it) - any the exact same steps with the two brand new HP Cartridges fail.
