How do I disable the cartridge

protection to use recycled hp cartridges if the option to do it is missing from my printer and hp app? I tried every option on YouTube and Google for six hours, and not one worked.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

This printer series is protected with Dynamic Security to prevent the use of ink cartridges that do not have an HP chip.

There is no legal way to bypass the security.

From the start, each Firmware update reinforces the policy.

HP OfficeJet 9010/OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer series firmware update

Description

This software tool will help you update your printer to the latest firmware. Please refer to Enhancement/Fixes for more detail about the firmware update.

Reminder: Dynamic security enabled printer. This Firmware includes dynamic security measures, which are used to block cartridges using a non-HP chip or modified or non-HP electronic circuitry. The printer is intended to work only with new or reused cartridges that have a new or reused HP chip or circuitry. Periodic firmware updates will maintain the effectiveness of the dynamic security measures and block cartridges that previously worked. More at: https://www.hp.com/learn/ds

Next,

"Cartridge Protection" - likely found in the Printer Control Panel and present in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) connection to the printer, is used to prevent theft of ink cartridges from one printer (or fleet of printers) and then used in a different printer.  Cartridge Protection is not meant to disable the Dynamic Security that prevents use of non-HP chipped cartridges.

FYI

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Supplies > Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

OR

New format EWS

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Supplies > tab Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON
