Google Translation

Where can I find ink cartridge protection in the HP app?

Your post did not capture your Printer Model and Operating System/version.

Cartridge Protection might not be what you believe.

Cartridge Protection is not, for example, a method to bypass the requirement for HP Chipped ink cartridges.

OK -- Continuing...

Cartridge Protection is located in the HP App in the Printer Menu → Printer Settings → View all

HP_App_Win_Menu_Options_8HP_App_Win_Menu_Options_8

-- What if? --

Printer Settings do not always open as they ought (spinning blue circle)
Printer Settings -- when they do work -- are sometimes very slow to open
and
There is another way to get to Printer Settings where the printer's features can be viewed and adjusted.

Cartridge Protection might be found in the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

-- Reminder --

If asked enter the printer’s PIN number –

The default PIN might be located on the back or inside the printer (ink access area).

See your printer's user guide for additional information.

Classic EWS - Select InkJet Printers

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Supplies > Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

OR

Alternate EWS format - Select newer InkJet printers and select LaserJet printers

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Supplies > tab Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

The Cartridge Protection feature permanently protects cartridges for use in only one fleet of products or product to help prevent theft.

If, after cartridges have been protected, they are moved to a device outside the fleet (fleet based) or to a different printer (printer based), these cartridges will be identified as protected and will have to be replaced to continue printing.

Note:

When you turn on this feature, all cartridges installed in the printer will be protected. However, if you turn off this feature again, these cartridges will remain protected. Only cartridges installed afterwards will not have cartridge protection enabled.
