I have got Deskjet 2710e printer. The new cartridge does not work without HP+ subscription, when I brought new cartridge from Currys it stopped working and same cartridge started working when I subscribed to Hp+ monthly plan. Does this printer not work without subscription?

Hi @Rahul1007 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
The Deskjet 2710e printer, like many modern printers, may be designed to require certain features or functionalities that are tied to subscription plans such as HP+. This could include features like automatic ink replenishment, remote printing, or enhanced support services.
However, it's unusual for a printer to completely refuse to work with a new cartridge unless a subscription is active. Typically, printers should still be able to print using standard cartridges even if subscription features are not activated.
There could be several reasons why the cartridge purchased from Currys didn't work initially:
Compatibility Issue: The cartridge may not have been compatible with your printer model. It's crucial to ensure that the cartridge is the correct one for your specific printer model.
Installation Error: Sometimes, cartridges may not work due to improper installation. Ensure that the cartridge is correctly inserted into the printer following the HP instructions on user manual
Defective Cartridge: It's possible that the cartridge itself was defective. This can happen occasionally with any manufactured product.
Firmware Lock: Some printers may have firmware that detects third-party cartridges and either refuses to use them or prompts for a subscription. This could be what you experienced.
If the cartridge started working after subscribing to HP+, it's likely that the printer's functionality was tied to the subscription in some way. You may want to check the terms and conditions of your printer and the HP+ subscription to understand the exact features and functionalities that are dependent on the subscription.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
