Envy 120
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I am trying to install a new HP 300 black cartridge into my HP Envy 120 all-in-one printer but am getting an error message which says "Cartridge problem: one or more cartridges appear to be damaged". It indicates the Black cartridge is the problem.

How do I solve this please?

I would like to help

 

Please try these steps

 

- Turn on the printer.hi

- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer. And clean the electrical contacts with a lint free cloth

- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

- Wait at least 60 seconds.

- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

 

Also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thanks for your advice.

in fact the answer was more prosaic, I just wiped the terminals inside the printer, reinserted the cartridge and the machine then recognised this as a genuine HP cartridge.

No problems since.

Hi KrazyTaod, I have the same issue, but unable to move printer cartrdige to to the left in order to adjust black ink cartridge.

If the cartridges are not moving try manually moving it without applying too much force

 

If it's still stuck then you need to contact HP Support in your region for service options

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
