Hi @Helw,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your printer suddenly stops detecting cartridges, especially after a year of reliable use. Let’s walk through the steps to fix this issue and get your DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4929 printing again.

Steps to Fix Cartridge Detection Issues

Step 1: Power Reset the Printer

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn the printer on again.

Step 2: Clean Cartridge Contacts

  1. Remove both cartridges.
  2. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  3. Gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
  4. Let everything dry for 5 minutes before reinserting.

Step 3: Check for Firmware Updates

Step 4: Use Genuine HP Cartridges

Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP and not refilled or third-party.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
