I have an old HP printer that works fine. Always used 901 cartridge. 901 discontinued now & replaced with 60. Bought one 60 black ink cartridge at Staples on 12/22/23 for $29.99 + tax! Opened cartridge box & inside foil package was NOT a 60 cartridge but said 901 instead. Put it in printer & following message appeared" "Previously used genuine HP cartridge." No ink in it! Took it back to Staples but they did not believe me. I am not crazy. I spent $30 for a used, empty 901 cartridge. Feel scammed by HP. Cannot get a refund or replacement from Staples. Don't know how it happened. Anyone else experienced such a thing? Said Previously used genuine HP cartridge
box cartridge came in
thought I was buying a 60

Hi @kjh11,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Do not worry, I'd be happy to help you!
Reset the printer
- Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
- If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- NOTE:
- HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
