HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

Hello

When I sent printer to repair my cartridges were taken out and return to me.

After printer was fixed, printer was returned with new set of cartridges.

When cartridges from new set became empty, I replaced it from old cartridges that were taken out. They still have inks and I want to use it.

The printer says that cartridges were used, I bypass the error during cartridges installation  and can print.

But I cannot see ink level. It shows yellow triangle with error that cartridges are reused and does not show ink level - show it as empty.

How can I reset this error and see actual level of ink?

Thanks

@EvgenySp, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Issues with Ink Level Detection!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When using previously installed ink cartridges in your printer, you might encounter issues with the ink level detection. The printer often cannot accurately determine the ink levels of used or refilled cartridges. This is due to several factors:

Memory Chip: Each ink cartridge contains a memory chip that records usage and assists in the operation of the printer. Once the cartridge is used, the printer associates its identification with specific usage data. Reinstalling a used cartridge might not update this data, leading to inaccurate ink level readings.

Bypassing Warnings: While you might bypass the printer's warning about using used cartridges, this can lead to a management issue where the ink levels do not update as expected.

System Sensitivity: HP printers sometimes fail to assess the ink levels of non-standard or refilled cartridges accurately due to their sensitive ink detection systems.

To avoid operational issues, HP recommends using genuine HP ink cartridges. These cartridges are designed to work seamlessly with HP printers, providing accurate ink level readings and consistent print quality.

For ongoing printer functionality, consider the following:

  • Regular Replacements: Replace cartridges when they are truly empty to avoid print errors.
  • Use Genuine Supplies: Whenever possible, use original HP ink cartridges. Although it’s possible to use other cartridges, they may not give you the expected performance and can lead to issues such as this.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
