Hi @Cyrus_8160,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 6020 is displaying an EO error after installing new ink cartridges, it usually indicates a problem with the cartridges or their installation. Here’s a detailed guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility::
- Ensure that the cartridges you purchased are compatible with the HP Envy 6020. Refer to the printer’s manual or HP’s official website to confirm the correct cartridge model.
2. Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Carefully remove the new cartridges.
- Check the cartridges for any protective tape or packaging that might not have been removed.
- Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they are securely seated in their respective slots. You should hear a click when they are properly installed.
3. Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge slot. Be careful not to let moisture drip into the printer.
Dry Completely:
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
4. Check for Cartridge Defects:
- Test with Known Good Cartridges:
- If possible, try installing cartridges from a different, known-good set to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the new cartridges are defective.
5. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any firmware updates for your HP Envy 6020. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
6. Reset the Printer::
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer’s internal components and clear temporary errors.
7. Check Printer Settings::
- On the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app, check if there are any settings or prompts related to cartridge installation or errors.
8. Verify Cartridge Installation Instructions::
- Refer to the printer’s manual or HP’s official website for specific instructions on installing cartridges. Ensure that you’re following the correct procedure.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
