Hi @Joan465,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Are you getting any error messages?

If your HP OfficeJet 8022e All-in-One Printer is blocking the second cartridge of a two-pack, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the cartridge is compatible with your HP OfficeJet 8022e. The compatible cartridges for this model are HP 910 or HP 910XL.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the cartridge that is being blocked.
  • Reinsert the cartridge, making sure it is properly seated and clicked into place.
  • Close the cartridge access door and check if the printer recognizes the cartridge.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.
  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and check if it recognizes the cartridge.

Check for Cartridge Protection:

  • Some HP printers have a cartridge protection feature that can prevent new cartridges from being recognized.
  • Access the printer settings via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to disable this feature if it is enabled.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause recognition issues.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using a different new cartridge to see if the issue persists. The cartridge you are trying to use might be defective.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, the problem may be with the printer itself or the new cartridge might be defective.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
