HP 7740 - the main menu does not show the ink level of cartridges. The printer will not allow prints until cartridge levels are above a minimum. How do I find the ink levels, short of taking them out and shaking them?

Hi @Silverghost63 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are ftrying to check the ink levels for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-In-One Printer in a few ways without removing the cartridges:
1. Using HP Smart App:
- Step 1: Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Step 2: Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer.
- Step 3: Look for the Ink Levels option on the home screen or under the printer details. This will show you the current levels of your ink cartridges.
2. Via the Printer Control Panel:
- Step 1: On the printer’s control panel, tap the Wireless icon or Settings (gear icon).
- Step 2: Navigate to Ink Levels or Printer Maintenance options from the menu.
- Step 3: Check the ink levels displayed on the screen.
3. Through Windows Printer Settings:
- Step 1: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Step 2: Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer and select See what's printing.
- Step 3: Click on Printer > Printer Properties.
- Step 4: Look for an Estimated Ink Levels tab under the HP Device Services or Maintenance section.
4. Using HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website.
- Run the tool, and it should show you the ink levels as part of the diagnostic process.
These methods will give you a more accurate reading of the ink levels and should help avoid the hassle of manually checking the cartridges!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
