My printer not working because I have cancelled Instant Ink (do not use the printer often enough to justify the monthly cost);
both cartridges were part of the free supply when I purchased the printer. Now printer is saying 'the indicated cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant ink'. Can someone explain please? Does this mean that I can only
use my printer if I make a monthly payment for the instant ink. Thanks.

@jaydee44, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Issues with Instant Ink Cartridges After Cancellation!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
When you enroll in HP Instant Ink, the supplied cartridges become Instant Ink cartridges that are specifically tied to the service. These cartridges only work while your Instant Ink service is active. If you have canceled your Instant Ink subscription, your printer may display the error message stating, "the indicated cartridge cannot be used until the printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink."
Steps to Resolve:
Purchase Original HP Ink Cartridges:
- Since Instant Ink cartridges only function when the service is active, you will need to purchase replacement Original HP Ink cartridges from a retailer to continue using your printer.
Re-enroll in Instant Ink (Optional):
- If you wish to use the Instant Ink cartridges, you will need to re-enroll in the Instant Ink service.
Ensure Printer Connectivity:
- Make sure your printer is connected to the internet, as connection issues sometimes cause such errors even with enrolled printers.
For more information, you can visit the Instant Ink support page.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
