Hi @Devi12345,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2130 printer is not recognizing a newly installed black cartridge, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps:

Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the black cartridge from the printer, make sure there are no protective tapes or covers on the contacts or nozzles of the cartridge, then reinsert it firmly into the correct slot.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication errors.

Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the contacts on the cartridge are dirty or dusty, it can prevent the printer from recognizing it. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in distilled water. Make sure it's dry before reinserting.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve cartridge recognition issues. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website.

Check for Tape or Seal: Ensure that no tape or seal is covering the vent hole or the nozzle of the cartridge. These need to be open for the ink to flow correctly.

Advanced Steps:

Reset the Printer: You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes clear out any temporary glitches. Look for a "Reset" option in the printer menu.

Clean Cartridge Contacts in Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Open the cartridge access door and locate the contacts in the printer that connect with the cartridge. Gently clean these contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Check for Ink Dried in Cartridge or Printhead: If the printer hasn't been used for a year, ink may have dried in the cartridge or printhead. Try running the printhead cleaning utility through the printer's software.

Replace Cartridge: If none of the above steps work, there may be an issue with the cartridge itself. If you have another compatible cartridge, try installing that to see if it gets recognized. This will help determine if the problem is with the cartridge or the printer.

Following these steps should hopefully resolve the issue of your HP DeskJet 2130 not recognizing the black cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
